So his statement assumes that those who plumb bob are shallow and don't consider slope by and between the ball and hole. I look for multiple breaks, up hill, down hill and much more. I always walk all the way up to the hole and then plumb bob with in 5 feet of the hole then say at 15 feet and 30. TRUE, I agree with that statement but he is not accounting for players like me who do take into account the slope at the hole and between the ball and the hole. it actually indicates the slope under your feet- not the slope AT the hole and not the slope BETWEEN the ball and the hole." Here's another example of his lack of knowledge about every ones technique when they plumb bob, ". I never ignore what I sense and normally the plumb bobbing confirms what I see and feel under my feet and with my eyes. But I completely disagree because I absolutely believe that it does help me see how much it will break and I definitely believe and it has been my experience that it does make my sensing of the start line much, much sharper. I feel that that is opinion, his conclusion based on his study, practice and likely his experience too. it only confirms what you already sense,Īnd doesn't make you a better reader of the break or make your sensing of the start line any sharper." However there were statements that I did not agree with and others that made it seem like all who plumb bob are narrow minded.įor example, in Geoff Mangum's article I personally disagree with his very first primise about plumb bobbing which was, I quote, ". They also drew conclusions and mentioned what they feel are the pros and cons of plumb bobbing, much of which I agreed with too. A lot more was said than your key point which I heartly agree with. I always use the end point "top of the vertical line" as my intended line to hit along. Not sure why you think my reference to the both entire articles and everything they said as specifically agruing about your first sentence. I do plumb bob, but only with the label on the shaft laying over the hole, I align the top of the label with the hole to see if the hole is sloped. So, I don't believe the plumb bob works to tell break, although the dominant eye may have something to do with this technique that I have not tried. However these conditions exist whether the green is sloping left to right, right to left, or no slope (flat). If you consider just the physics of the plumb bobbing, the putter hangs under the force of gravity so if you don't bias the plumb with your grip it should hang vertical assuming the shaft is straight, when you stand directly inline with the hole and hang a vertical in the plane that includes the middle of the hole, the vertical (putter shaft) will be in line with the hole, and according to the explanation the putt will be straight. I have a friend who plumb bobs and is quite successful although he has never been able to explain it to my satisfaction and I have never been able to make it work according to his explanation, much the same as Serge's. So, it's really a matter of whether or not you think plumb bobbing can increase your odds of making any given putt.īecause I think it provides me an advantage when reading putts, I choose to plumb bob. Putts need to have the right speed as well. Though I would recommend plumb bobbing to anyone struggling with the putter, I will say that t here's no real exact science to it because putts have more elements than just the way they break. You'll have to watch the video above to learn all about my technique for plumb bobbing. Personally, I plumb bob when I putt and I think it gives you a good idea as to how the putt breaks. This is actually a controversial subject as I've mentioned above because some people think plumb bobbing is a great way to line up putts and others completely disagree. I think the reason some people may not like it is because they don't necessarily know how to do it properly. I'll provide my opinions on plumb bobbing today, but I'd also like to hear from you. Have you ever tried it? If so, have you had success with it? Use the comment section below to share your experiences. Request or Help Needed: How to use plumb bobbing with putter on the green Some people swear by it while others think it's a complete waste of time. Brian Sullivan sent in a question about plumb bobbing via our customer support page. Plumb bobbing is a putting tip that has been around for a long time. I don't get a chance to talk about putting all that often, so I thought today would be as good as any to answer a question on the subject. Issues deploying a routed React App to Github Pages Ask Question Asked 10 months ago Modified 10 months ago Viewed 527 times 0 Like many others, Im getting stuck on deploying a routed react app to gh pages. Wait a few minutes, then check your URL Go ahead and push everything up, if you haven't already, and deploy. Return to the Github Pages settings and set your source to the gh-pages branch. To avoid the error (thanks to Nicholas for his comment). After gaining experience in creating React apps, it’s time to explore various deployment options available to showcase your work to the world. Run npm-run-deploy in your terminal, then push everything up. , I used: rm -rf node_modules/.cache/gh-pages So instead of: rm -rf node_modules/gh-pages/.cache The solution is removing the cache, but since version 3.1 of gh-pages node_module, they moved the cache to a different path. The last problem is avoiding the error "Branch gh-pages already exists" after using CTRL+C to terminate the unresponsive terminal.Doing this, of course, will not affect your build and GitHub personal page. To make sure the GitHub pages will be loaded from the gh-pages branch, I had to go to my GitHub repository > Settings > GitHub Pages and change the branch to gh-pages (see image below).Īfter step 2, my website was up and running and could be accessed via You can go ahead and push your project commits to the branch master as well.To solve this problem, I had to manually create a remote branch, called gh-pages and run the deploy command again. This caused running npm run deploy to freeze again!! To use this functionality, you must change the repository name to, e.g., -b gh-pages where gh-pages is the name of the branch I'd like to deploy my website to. To provide context, For each account, GitHub allows hosting 1 personal static webpage and numerous static project webpages on GitHub Pages for free. Since I spent two hours to solve this problem and I had to get this information from multiple sources and solutions, I decided to spend another hour to write this post here for other future deployers (!) facing the same issues. Nearly 12,000 people contributed code, documentation, graphic design, and more to the open source software that made Ingenuity’s launch possible. Meanwhile, the Python ecosystem played a key role in everything from ground control to flight modeling to data processing.īehind its expansive software were thousands of open source developers around the world, unaware of the gravity of their contributions. Much of its software is written in C++ using JPL’s open source flight control framework F Prime(F´). The Ingenuity helicopter runs an embedded Linux distribution on its navigation computer. And behind its expansive software were thousands of open source developers around the world, unaware of the gravity of their contributions. Behind the 4-lb helicopter were contractors from recognizable companies like AeroVironment, Lockheed Martin, and Qualcomm. The team that built Ingenuity is much bigger than JPL’s 6,000 employees. “All the boundaries we have in our engineering disciplines, we couldn’t have them anymore,” Ingenuity Project Head MiMi Aung told the Making Space podcast. Packing everything Ingenuity needed into such a lightweight rotorcraft was an engineering feat that lived up to the project’s name. In order to fly in Mars’s thin atmosphere-with an atmospheric volume less than 1% of Earth’s-NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL) had to keep the weight of Ingenuity below four pounds (1.8kg), including blades, a motor, a power supply, solar panels, and enough computing power to monitor instruments and keep the helicopter from deviating from its pre-programmed course. That’s the altitude the small helicopter hovered just above the surface of Mars, marking a major milestone for humanity: the launch was the first powered flight on another planet and proof that it’s possible for a helicopter to achieve lift-off on Mars. However, Ingenuity’s most important journey was only about 10 feet. The Ingenuity Mars Helicopter departed Earth for its 293 million mile trip to Mars aboard the Perseverance Rover last July. Today, nearly 12,000 developers will see a new badge on their GitHub profile celebrating their contributions to the specific versions of projects and libraries used by NASA to fly the Ingenuity Helicopter on Mars. First, we need the password, we need to be in proximity to the victim so we can record traffic, and we need to be able to kick the targeted device off the network or wait for them to reconnect. To pull off this attack, a few conditions need to be met. Also, DNS requests to resolve the domains that apps need to talk to in order to work are easy to see, identifying which apps and services are active. This may not seem like a big deal, but in only 60 seconds, it's easy to learn a lot about the type of device we're monitoring and what exactly is running on it. They’re useful if you plan to view and analyze the packets on the actual Android device, though you can still export in the universal PCAP format for viewing on other devices and computers. When you use a Wi-Fi network that uses WPA2 encryption, the security of your session is based on two things. Dr Network also offers the usual basic network tools, such as Ping, Netcfg, Netstat, Tcpdump, Ifconfig, ARP Cache, IP Routing Table, and IP Locator. If you have a rooted Android device, there are many more apps to consider. This likely also requires a USB on-the-go (OTG) cable to convert from Micro-USB to the full USB Type A. Monitoring or capturing Wi-Fi traffic on Android smartphones and tablets is possible. I say this as staunch fan of the Surface Duo, but Instead of sinking more R&D into perfecting foldable OLED displays to ultimately put out a sixth or seventh me-too device in a Surface Duo 3, Microsoft should invest that time and effort into the Microsoft Launcher and relaunching it as paid app that bridges the Windows OS aesthetic and feature set closer to that of Android. There are over 50 million downloads of the Microsoft Launcher and another 10 million of SwiftKey listed in the Google Play Store, if just a fraction of those downloads came at a price, Microsoft might make more in revenue than it did over the past three years with the Surface Duo alone. Both software and price are two places an investment in the Microsoft Launcher could net the company some revenue wins in mobile that it hasn’t been able to replicate in close to a decade. I won’t rehash all of the shortcomings Microsoft will have to overcome to even make a viable product next year, but in 2024, even if Microsoft manages to deliver a piece of hardware, its only differentiating benefits will be in software and price. With Microsoft’s rumored pivot to a single-screen foldable as well as a possible slab-style traditional smartphone option, the Surface mobile effort makes even less sense in 2024 than it did in 2019. While I enjoy the sleek design acumen of the Surface team in most of their hardware efforts, there is nothing inherent to Microsoft’s business that needs to offer a Surface branded smartphone or mobile device in 2024, especially if it’s running Android. Which is why I’m ready for Microsoft to shelve the whole Surface Duo project and focus its efforts on the Microsoft Launcher in 2024. The reasons for the deterioration of the Microsoft/Google partnership in mobile haven’t been made clear at this point, but couple struggling with the sole platform provider for your device as well as sidelining your own software development teams and the Surface Duo project is looking less and less likely as evolving third attempt from the company and more like a baggage-filled restart. In addition to waiting on an updated piece of hardware from the Surface Duo team, it looks like customers will have to wait on software as well, with the company giving no commitment or even an indication that Android 14 will come to devices in 2023, leaving many to believe Microsoft may simply wait to release Android 14 with a new device at the end of 2024.īeyond its logistical failings, it looks like Microsoft couldn’t hold their highly touted partnership with Google together, as the relationship frayed enough to clog the publishing pipes for Android 12 and 13 to Duo devices according to Bowden. That’s why Android 12L launched in October and has received pretty much no fixes or improvements since. Previously, OEMs built their own software for these devices and licensed the Teams integration, but now, Microsoft has full control of the OS from the ground up.įor whatever reason, Microsoft considers this effort more important than supporting the Surface Duo with new features and bug fixes, so work on Android for Surface Duo has slowed while the team focused on Teams Rooms on Android. Teams Rooms on Android is Microsoft’s attempt at becoming an AOSP vendor for device makers building Teams-powered conferencing devices like desk phones. Furthermore, Microsoft may be holding on addressing long standing issues with the last big update to the devices with Android 12. Seemingly as a result of the prioritization shuffle Microsoft Duo and Duo 2 owners are now left with simply getting late security updates, if at all. In Bowden’s latest update on the state of Surface Duo, he posts that not only has the teams working on the Duo been cut but they’ve also deprioritized development on the device to split time making Teams Rooms on Android a success. Officially, King soft launches titles once they are feature complete, but that wouldn’t give us time to analyze the data and react ahead of the planned hard launch so we decided to soft launch soon after our playtest launch. We already had enough game mechanics to fill the first 75 levels, but we needed to make a final decision about how to introduce them into the game. We nailed down the theme and the name of the game, and the story started taking it’s final shape. We set a new, realistic release date, and started getting the game ready. We had reliable statistics for how long it took us to implement features, we also had a concrete list of all the features that we wanted in the game. Celebrities, TV ad spots, event locations, none of these are amenable to a Just-In-Time development style ). We needed to set a hard launch date that wouldn’t slip. Our final constraint was the marketing/branding campaigns. We used the results from user testing to get feedback about the game elements, logic and fun factor.īurnup showing feature creep, scope reduction and reprioritization This included removing incomplete features, and clearly defining the features that stayed in the game. We defined an achievable minimum feature set for the playtest launch, by reducing the scope to what we really needed to do to meet the launch date. We set a playtest launch date (an unofficial limited launch in one or two small countries) so we could start gathering quantitative data on the game and we started converging. We needed to get out of the groan zone, and focus on a common concept that would make a successful game. The initial backlog that we were working off of had grown, and there was no end in sight to finishing all the features that were half done. We had a lot of game elements, and new features, and game modes, and cool experiments, but they were all more or less in prototype form. We would develop the game client in both C++ and ActionScript, but we would do it simultaneously and reduce duplication by using the same assets.Ī few months into the project we were facing our biggest challenge: an internally set hard launch date that was fast approaching when we didn’t have a releasable game. This was the first architectural decision. So while half the team worked on prototyping the game the other half started working on a 3D framework in ActionScript for Facebook that could share graphical assets and set up with the C++ code for mobile. This was a really big team to start developing a game with no prototype. The only directive was to build the next big thing. In the Spring of 2013 a team of about 16 developers, artists, producers and level designers was assembled. King was already developing several other games, but with the success of Candy Crush, it made sense to start working on what would become a sister title to the game. In the cut-throat casual gaming industry you can’t rest on your laurels. Candy Crush Saga started out successfully as a Facebook game, a year later it was released on mobile and it became a runaway success. You do see the Embassy occasionally - usually overpriced - but this is only the second 1973 pressing I've ever seen. Because he doubted that they had produced many different stampers for an Iggy Pop record in 1973. What he did say is that by 1973 the British CBS had a lot of their "UK" vinyl pressed in Holland and since this was a rather obscure album he thought it might sound very close to the British pressing. In fact I could tell he secretly thought I was nuts to bring up sonics when talking about this album.
